back in october, i escaped to beautiful and hilly perugia with my friend charis to visit our lovely anna who was there to study for her music degree (and is pretty much a local now!). we only spent a quick 3 days there so our schedule was well-packed with chasing sunsets, drinking ginseng coffee (you read that right!), exploring cobbled lanes, munching on LOTS of croissants + pastries, and trying out funky gelato flavours. on the last day of our trip, anna brought us to ‘their local park’ which turned out to be a beautiful spread of olive trees, strong + tall, set on a hill overlooking the city. it was a dream to be standing amongst this pale green beauty + it has made me want to bring home an olive tree so bad!
i loved how perugia is not a major tourist destination, so everything was pretty much local (no nasty inflated prices!!) and 3 days was perfect to explore the town. mind you though, transport is not ideal in perugia; we hiked for 45 minutes with our luggage to get to town because we missed the bus from the airport which came every hour, and the bus drivers there didn’t seem to know what they were doing lol. BUT travelling by foot is not bad at all – every nook + cranny were literally a film set (if anyone is planning to get married in italy, hit me up!!).
on our last night in perugia, anna took us to their jazz night at a local pub where people would gather to listen to live music with a drink in hand – what a vibe. thank you, anna, for taking us around + showing us the wonders of perugia!
